Safe Family Driving Forum Basics The following notes are intended to enable newcomers to take part in the forum as quickly as possible. Note that all references to the Page mean the pages within the Forum.

>>Forum Index The Forum Index page is the equivalent of the forum's Home Page. When you visit the forum you will see it on the "Breadcrumb Trail" with >> next to it. You can always click on >>Forum Index to take you back to the main forum page.

Register Once you visit the forum to take part first click on the Register link at the top of the forum page. You will be asked for a Name and Password. You might prefer to use a nickname or short name when using the forum. It is always advisable to avoid posting personal information on the forum. |

Log In Now that you have registered, click on the Log In link at the top of the page and enter the Name and Password you chose when registering with the forum. |

Create Your Personal Profile To get posting quickly assuming you are now Logged In, click on the Personal link that has appeared next to Log Out. This takes you to your forum profile where you can create an online identity for your protection. You can have more fun with this when you have time to spare adding images and so on.
The minimum required for security is a contact email address which you can keep hidden from other visitors to the forum. You can also use this to Subscribe to a particular topic, which means you'll get an email message when something new is posted on your chosen topic.
To do this click on Edit Profile on the menu to the left of the page and enter a contact email address. Click on the tick box to Hide this address from other visitors to the forum.
Click the Save Changes button. You may have to Scroll down the page to do this.

Post a Reply To read the messages in any forum simply click on the forum title to reveal the various topics being discussed. Click on the topics you wish to read about.
When you click on a message the Reply message box appears so long as you are Logged In (see above).
To reply simply enter your message and click on the Send button, just as if you were sending an email. |

Post New Topic At some point you will want to raise a topic of your own. To do this simply click on the Post New Topic link at the top of the page. This opens a message box like the one used to Post a Reply (see above). This time you are also required to enter a Subject for your post and this becomes the New Topic. |

Subscribe If you want to receive an email message when something new is posted to the forum on a topic of particular interest (perhaps one you started yourself) then click on the Personal link at the top when Logged In and then click on Subscriptions on the menu to the left of the page. You then simply highlight the topics you are interested in from a drop-down list and click on Save Changes. |
